In 2000 the first ever Little Miss, Juvenile Miss, Pre-Teen, and Teen Sussex County Pageant was held. It was all started to raise funds for the Make-A Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc., and to promote community service. Its organizers from the beginning were Kim Bailey and Kimberly Thomas, a mother and daughter team that kept the program running for 8 years. In 2008, the pageant organizers changed hands to yet another mother and daughter team that has seen the program through as a family that has benefited from the program. The program is now under the Direction of Sandy Mitchell and her daughter Brooke is the choreographer.
Our mission is to support and make our community aware of The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc. This organization holds great importance in making a difference in the eyes of the life-threatened child and family. By holding an annual benefit such as “The Sussex County Pageant”, it will help make a wish come true! Most importantly, by awarding title holders the opportunity to get involved in the community by helping with various service projects.
